Today I went to Momelodi for the second time this week. The time we spend there is pretty incredible. The Lord has really been showing me the importance of just taking time to just love on all the little children there. When you do this the kids slowly see in you that is new to them. It may take a little while, but the kids begin to trust you and you can tell it by the smiles in their faces and the twinkle in your eyes. I have learned the importance of intercessory prayer within my team. We have been waking up almost everyday at 6am and praying for an hour before things get going. I know you're probably asking yourself, "Marcus gets up at 6". Well actually I do and that is about 11pm your time so I'm up well before y'all ;) Today I spent most of my day holding a young boy by the name of Boikaya. We spent the day playing on the slides, dancing around, and just sharing the day together. This boy is one of my favorite kids I've had the chance to spend time with. This makes me wonder, is God's plan for me to be a youth minister. I have been seriously considering schools around the US that have youth ministry as an option. Some of the gals at the location I volunteer at are incredible at planning big youth ministry programs. This is just another testament to how amazing women are at planning things, though still struggling to pick up on the whole driving thing (Just Kidding). On a more serious side though I did feel the Lord calling me to youth ministry before I left. Who knows I might be running youth ministry in South Africa for years to come after this. I do love the children here, and I'm quite certain that I want to adopt from this country someday.
My brother Luke and I have been spending much time with our new friend Sam. He sells soda & beer and is a real estate man (he rents 5 tin houses at the local camp we work at). He is very hospitable man, which is quite a respectable trait if I may add. We are studying 1 Timothy this week and Chapter 3 talks all about the way we should act as followers of Christ. Hospitality is one thing I see many people in the states falling short of. I mean the Lord blesses you with great material possessions and many people can't understand the importance of inviting people into their home. There is much wisdom to gain from 1 Timothy 3. All I can encourage is that you read it, but if you choose not to it will definitely be your loss. So we visit our new friend Sam and his Wife most everyday. We always sit down and share a cold Fanta orange and build our friendship with him. He also convinced us to watch a bit of a Bruce Lee movie. Tomorrow I will for sure bring my bible with us during our street ministry so we can share the word with him. He does go to a Zion Church and we hope to attend it with him soon. We will continue to prayer for our new friend Sam, and I ask that you pray that the Lord blesses Sam with a great week. Thanks for your support on this day. Pray that the Lord continues to bless me with a heart that is on fire for Him everyday.
