The ministry this week only lasted 2 days because on Wednesday,
we travel back to Ifafi, South Africa to celebrate
thanksgiving, and on Saturday morning at 5 am we leave for Jeffrey’s Bay South
Africa. So yea, this week is mostly a
week for traveling and holiday purposes.
We did get to go out to our ministry locations on Monday and Tuesday
though. On Monday, we went to a new care
point. It was in Nsoko, and it was out
in the boondocks. It was a blessing
because only about once every two weeks do people make it out to volunteer
there. It gives me such hope to be at
the care points because this is the future of Swaziland. The children there that belong to Jesus
Christ are the men and women that will rise up to lead the country in the name
of the Lord. It makes me very happy to
know that our Lord is sovereign over everything. That he always has control of everything. The kids at Nsoko were delighted to see us,
and it was nice to be able to spend a few hours playing with them. The Nsoko ministry has kind of a neat story
behind it. It was started by a guy named
Gary Black. He is a missionary with Adventures
In Missions. While he was scouting the area,
he found this care point, and soon realized how big the need was for it. Almost immediately after starting it, he was
approached with some Christian landowners right next to the care point. They gave Mr. Black 100 acres of land, and
promised to do all the work on the land to prepare it for building (it is an
incredibly large workload). In a couple of
months, there will be buildings going in there, and they will be forming a
small community there. Another blessing
is that in a place where water hadn’t been found, they found groundwater in the
first few days of looking. Isn’t our God
so AWESOME! We taught the children at
Nsoko for about an hour, played games with them, and spent time showing them
love. After we left, we did a little
grocery shopping to plan the next two day’s meals. I spent some time reading about Joseph in
Genesis, and then I called it a night.
What a day though.
Tuesday was
my favorite day of ministry in Swaziland. I went to a care point with the other guy on
our team, Ben. We went to a place called
Beccilaunga. I had been there one other
day last week and met a couple of guys that I worked with that week. We met up with Zoma and spent the day working
with him. We were digging the filtering
system for a septic system that their crew had dug in the previous month. We took turns pick axing through the rock and
also had 2 shovels digging out all the loose stuff. It was such a blessing to have a good days
work. Ben and I spent the day working
with Zoma, learning more about him, and becoming his friend. We talked to him about his life, joked about
him getting married, and shared many stories with him. I can’t wait to visit him when I go back to Swaziland. We worked him for about 5 hours or so, shared
lunch with all the guys he works with and headed off for our homestead. We decided to take the scenic room home (we
walked). Our walk was about 2
hours. We met a gal on the way to the
homestead, and she shared with us that she was going into here senior year in
high school. She also shared her faith
with us. She was completely sold out for
Jesus Christ. Ben and I both agreed that
it had been one of the most real talks we had been a part of in Swaziland. Those were our 2 days of ministry this
week. They were both very amazing. Tuesday morning I also got to give my testimony
at a school near us. 6 of my team
including myself got to do the morning assembly!
