Last night I checked one of the things off on my worldly to
do list. We made it to the southern tip
of the continent. Jeffrey's bay is where
we'll be at for the next couple of weeks.
We left Saturday for what is supposed to be around a 16-hour drive. It was a smooth ride with not many
stops. We kept the time down by buying
snacks the day before the trip. We ate
meals when we stopped for diesel at the stations. I'm pretty sure I've never been that
efficient on a trip, which is definitely something the Lord has been teaching
me here. Intentionality with the time
given to me is something I have been growing in since in Africa. Being from Illinois, we don't see a whole lot
of surfing and very few waves. Once and
awhile, water blows around in the lakes, but not nearly as much as the waves
the Indian Ocean have to offer. Jeffrey's
Bay hosts the world surf final's competition in South Africa's winter
months. So, overall the drive was
good. I read a book called "Redeeming
Love", had some nice catch up conversations with my team, and rested a little
bit. After the book, I find myself
wanting to change my name to Michael Hosea.
If you read the book, you'll understand what I mean. What an incredible man of God he was in the
book. After reading it, I'm thankful that
it will be the Lord that is going to transform me to be a Godly man. If you want to know what an awesome man of
God is I suggest this book highly. After
a long drive, the Jeffrey's Bay team had ordered us an amazing spread of
pizza. I had a little too much to eat
and then headed to bed. Our living
quarters are really cool and we live in a little community with tourist that
come in and rent the place. We also went
to visit the beach that night. It is
about a 5-minute walk from where we live.
We arrived safely with little car trouble. Praise Him for bringing us here!
